Exciting News today! We begin the Blog Tour for the re-release of Find Wonder in All Things 🙂 Monday, January 6, 2020 is the day, and the ebook is available for pre-order now.
This book, originally published in 2012, is near and dear to me for several reasons:
- It was the first book I wrote during NaNoWriMo (and with my winning discount that year, I bought Scrivener, which changed my writing life.)
- FWiAT (as I affectionately nicknamed it) is set in southern Kentucky, near where I spent my teenage years. I grew up on and around a lake like the one where Laurel Elliot lives.
- This book was my sophomore effort, the one that convinced me being published wasn’t some kind of bizarre quirk of fate. I learned a lot when I was writing Find Wonder in All Things, and I think it shows in the finished product.
- It won, not one, but two awards: The 2012 Independent Publishers Book Award—Gold Medal for Romance, and it was a Next Generation Indie Book Award Finalist in 2013.
- I got to write a musician and techie hero, and an artist heroine, which gave me great joy.
Because it is a Persuasion-inspired story, and a relatively modern setting (1990s) a lot of the newer Austen fans don’t know about Find Wonder in All Things. I’m trying to change that with this second edition. The book has had a new edit, new formatting, and sports a spiffy new cover.
There isn’t a Mr. Darcy, but have you all met Captain Wentworth? Have you read his Letter?
Wentworth is hot—and romantic, and impulsive—and so is swoon-worthy James Marshall, FWiAT’s hero. So much fun to write!
Anne Elliot (named Laurel in this book) can be a difficult sell as a 20th-century heroine, but long-legged, red-haired girl-next-door Laurel brings Anne’s quiet loyalty and wisdom into modern times with an artistic flair. As I wrote her story, I fell in love with her devotion, her developing independence, and her sweet disposition.
I’m giving away a signed copy of the book and some Jane Austen swag: fun notecards from The Quill Ink, a What Would Jane Do? book of quotes, and Austen coffee mug (if US winner) or an
ebook copy of the book and 25$ Amazon Gift Card (if international winner – cause #shipping 🙂
