About the Author

Karen M. Cox is an award-winning author renowned for her engaging and evocative adaptations of Jane Austen’s timeless tales, transforming them into different historical eras and contemporary settings. Her novels include 1932, Find Wonder in All Things, I Could Write a Book, Undeceived, and Son of a Preacher Man. Additionally, she has contributed memorable short stories to several anthologies: The Darcy Monologues, Dangerous to Know: Jane Austen’s Rakes and Gentlemen Rogues, Rational Creatures, and Elizabeth: Obstinate, Headstrong Girl.

Born in Everett, Washington, Karen’s early life mirrored the mobility of a military family—her father’s career in the United States Air Force took them to the plains of North Dakota, and afterward, to the bucolic scenery of western New York State. By the age of eleven, Karen rediscovered her roots in Kentucky, which became her forever home. Now settled in a small town, she balances her time between her roles as a pediatric speech pathologist, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother.

Karen’s life reflects a patchwork of interests; like Jane Austen’s Emma, she begins numerous hobbies and projects with zest, though finishing them remains a challenge. Nevertheless, she is committed to becoming an avid reader and an excellent walker, inspired by none other than Elizabeth Bennet herself. In her writing, Karen continues to bring the subtlety of Austen’s wit and the depth of psychological insight into the modern era, making each story uniquely her own.
